Portland, Oregon

One of Dave’s family’s traditions is eating at Portland, Oregon’s Oyster Bar. They have been in business for many years and all the generations of Sassers have eaten there. Dave tells the memory of eating at the Oyster Bar with his Dad and grandfather. So, of course we had to make a stop when we traveled to Portland this Christmas. It was really great to share a tradition like this with Ava. It made me think more about what traditions we want to start in our own family as the kids grow up?

Christmas.

Ava was 1 1/2 at Christmas this year and she really enjoyed opening presents. We traveled to Portland, Oregon this year and had a wonderful time. Ava did pretty well even with the time change. We had alot of fun and loved seeing the mountains again. You forget how flat Ohio is!

Gone for too long!

Sorry we’ve had a crazy few months, with all the holidays and the many changes coming into our lives right now. Dave’s last week in the Air Force is this week! He was selected for Major in December, but he won’t be able to pin on before he gets out. He is working with Cameron-Brooks recruiting firm and has multiple interviews with some companies at the end of this month. We are excited to see what comes next for him. In addition, I am finishing up my research and should be able to defend at the end of Feb. We are planning a move sometime after that depending on how everything works out. :-)

Anyways, we will try to post more often. Ava is on the move these days. There are no quiet moments at our house, unless she is sleeping. She is learning new words everyday and has started putting them together into small “sentences”. She is counting to ten and knows a few of her colors. We learned this when Dave was going to the bathroom and Ava tried to follow him into the bathroom. At first she said, “Daddy potty”. Then, she looked down and pointed and said, “YELLOW!”.
