We’ve had a busy few weeks. Olivia and Ava are doing well. Ava had a fun trip to the pumpkin patch and we also decorated pumpkins and made some Halloween cards. Of course, we have forgotten to get a costume, which is THE most important ingredient for Halloween. I am procrastinating too much. Gotta come up with something. Olivia is eating, sleeping, and GROWING! She is already getting so much bigger. She is very alert for 4-5 hrs a day and that is fun. I think we are getting close to having a few smiles. We celebrated my birthday this week too! Ava loves birthdays because she gets to help blow out candles, and eat cake. Dave is off this week to Portland to attend the wedding of our good friends, Dave and Annie. I wanted to go, but couldn’t swing a plane trip with the little ones right now. Congrats guys! Hmmmm, well we did pretty good the first few days, but I think Ava has realized that Olivia is not just visiting. She has become super whiney and demanding…throwing tantrums over the smallest things. I don’t know whether it is the addition of a sibling or the two year molars slowly making their way through the gums…but either way, I’m trying to figure out how to deal with it. My approach so far has been to stay consistent with the rules and not give in (i.e,ignore) the tantrums. We’ll see if that approach works. She is getting plenty of one on one time because Olivia still sleeps so much. We’ll see if things settle down in a few weeks. I guess this means I should put off potty training for a little longer???

 

 

We are doing well! Everyone has made the transition pretty well. Ava seems content with the situation, although she doesn’t want to hold Olivia at all (thus the lack of pictures with the two of them). She loves to talk to her and read to her and whenever Olivia is crying she lets everyone know “O-bivia is hungry” (which is usually true). Overall, things have been much smoother than I even imagined.

 

 

 

 

Ava came up to the hospital the morning after Olivia was born. She was so excited to see her “baby sister”. She has done so well with her since being home too!

 

 

 

 

Arriving almost a week late…Olivia was born on Monday, October 1st. She weighed 7 lbs and 6 oz and was 19 inches long. Everything went very well and we couldn’t have been any happier.
