Misc.

Its getting hard to snap good pictures of the kids. I recently took a class thinking that would help me take better pictures. But really what I need is some sort of device to strap them down together in the same frame, with both of them looking at me and smiling (at the same time). Since this is nearly impossible, we will take what we can get. The class was great and taught me alot about my camera, but nothing about how to corral my daughters and get perfectly snapped images that reflect all the fun we have each day. Guess I’ll keep trying.

For my fellow Moms.

We now return to our regular Mom content (per Dave’s instructions)…see last video. I know my Mom friends can relate to this one.

Awesome geek video!

Dave apparently thinks that while it is fine to post videos (that he made) of a Mac laptop racing a PC to load windows…this video doesn’t belong on this website because it is too nerdy. Hhhhmmm…I think my fellow science geeks will find it just as funny as I did. And, we can all sometimes use a break from the cute babies, right? Enjoy.

More birthday.

Here are a few more of Dave’s birthday, plus for those of you who have been wanting to see the house…this shows a view of the kitchen and the dining area. I promise to post some of the rest of the house. We just finished the kids rooms this last weekend. Their playroom is close to being done, and the living room is also close. It takes forever to get settled. I am dying to go to some estate sales and see if we can pick up some cool pieces.

Happy Birthday Daddy-O-Dave!

We celebrated Dave’s birthday yesterday. Ava helped make the carrot cake and the birthday crown. Dave and I snuck out to watch a movie and have dinner (thanks for babysitting Ginny). We promised to have more regular date nights now that we are moved and getting settled. It was a fun evening. One of the best things about having kids is the way it forces you to experience events differently. If it were Dave and I alone, we would probably just exchange cards and go to dinner. With the kids now, birthdays are huge…making cards, cakes, crowns…and of course, every event has to have balloons. And really, I think they have it figured out, because what life event isn’t better with cake and balloons?

Bella's back!

Bella was living the country life while we were in the apartment. She stayed with my parents on their “ranch” and enjoyed chasing wild animals, rounding up the cows, killing snakes, and fighting with the other dogs. We weren’t sure how she would adjust to being back in the burbs, but she was so happy to be back with us. Ava LOVES her and is overjoyed to have “her dog” home with her.

Musings.

Ava: Mommy, what is this thing? (Staring at her hands and fingernails).
Me: That’s your fingernail.
Ava: (Staring for a little while) I think it’s sleeping on my finger. I think it likes it.

2 1/2 going on thirteen.

Ava turned 2 1/2 on Sunday. The half does seem important these days. Potty training seems to have gone well. Sometimes Ava gets to playing and I can tell she needs to go to the bathroom but doesn’t want to. This is the only time we have accidents. So, when I saw her grabbing her pants I said,
“Ava, you need to go potty”.
Ava replies, “I just hold it Mommy.”
“No, you really need to go. Let’s go now before you have an accident.”
You can almost hear the eye roll as she says, “OK, OK…I know, I know Mom.”
“Excuse me, when did you become thirteen?”

3 months old.

Time is flying. Olivia is so close to rolling over and loves to stand whenever you are holding her. We have to strap her into everything because she scoots and moves so much you can’t leave her to her own devices. Love her “talking” (oohs and ahhhs are the words of the moment). I need to do so much better about journaling stuff with her. With Ava, I always wrote everything down and wrote her a letter every month chronicling her milestones. Between having Olivia, moving, sick kids, and the holidays, I am just playing catch up. Guess I need to get busy!
