Oatmeal and prunes are much better than toes.

Olivia has started on solid foods, and true to our family….she LOVES her food. You would think we have been completely starving her the past four months. She gets so excited for each bite, I now understand why the highchair has a five-point harness.

Climbing trees.

This is a little tree out in our backyard, and it is Ava’s climbing spot. Whenever we are outside she is climbing in this tree. Now if we just had ten of them in a row so we could make her do tree-sprints, because lately she has been in super-energetic-borderline-mania-overboard-two-year-old mode.

Veggie tales.

Yum! I am so excited about this new find. A friend recently told us about Local Harvest where you can purchase a share in a local farm (CSA) and then get fresh veggies delivered to your house every week. Tonight was our first delivery. They dropped off our half-share at a local spot in the neighborhood and we gathered it up and came home. All the produce is fresh, local, and organic. I couldn’t believe the variety. See the oranges, apples, radishes, two kinds of potatos, strawberries, grape tomatos, large tomatos, spinach, cabbage, lettuce, etc, etc, etc. I had to look up a few of them for suggestions how to prepare (kohlrabi anyone?). Next week we are getting fresh, cage-free eggs as well. I am tempted to try some of the fresh meat farms, but I think we’ll take it one food group at a time. Check out the farms in your area. So fun!

What the world needs now.

Happy Pre-Valentine’s Day. We are making some crafts today for all the Valentine’s in our lives (which means they will be late being sent out)…at least we are trying.

Baby legs.

Love these little leg warmers from Baby legs. So fun. Ava likes to wear them too.

Now with "FancyZoom".

My cousin Cabel used his latest blog post to release a cool little piece of code that I think you’ll all enjoy. Well…I’m super-duper excited about it, but I’m also a super-duper geek so your mileage may vary. But check it out. Now when you want to get a closer look at one of Kate’s amazing family pics and you click…instead of opening a new page in your browser to display the photo, Cabel’s Vudu-magic javascript makes the image fade in and zoom all at once! Super Ajaxy goodness on the family blog, and all it took was a couple of copy-pastes and an ftp upload! From boring-style to fancy-style in two shakes of a lambs tail. Enjoy, and thanks so much Cabel!

Notice the fork.

As she rummages through our silverware drawer and then runs from the room, “I’m going to eat this giiiiiiaaaant meatball before it become dangerous.” (Seriously, direct quote).

Super Duper Tuesday.

Ava’s favorite thing to say whenever Dave and I are talking about something is, “Whachha talkin’ bout Mama?”. Dave was showing me this video and she wanted to know “What they talkin’bout Mama?”. I said, “Just talking about our country, America, and what it means.” Blank stare. Hmmmm, don’t think that resonated just yet???

I know this video is pretty “Hollywood” (yes, Brett). But, you have to admire the speech and the message. Whoever you are voting for, I hope that your candidate inspires you. We all know that every politician promises things they can’t deliver. But hopefully, they inspire US to deliver. To do our own dirty work, make changes in our own lives, become the citizens that we need to be to see the changes we want, demand the things that will better our lives and the lives of our children. Sometimes words are the greatest weapon of all. And how exciting is it that either way, we will be making history this year?
