Haha, you’re funny little girl…

I am not a cookie baker.  I love to bake bread and cakes and doughie things.  I also like to cook, and cook most of our meals everyday.  Now that we have two kids, I sometimes feel like I spend my days cooking food and cleaning up food…. However, I am not a cookie baker in general.  This gives me pangs of guilt, since I grew up in a household where the cookie jar was always full with the most delectable homemade cookies.  And, even now, my mother sends ziploc bags of Snickerdoodles to my husband because she feels bad that I don’t bake his favorite cookies for him.   I don’t know why I don’t bake them more often… I think it is the time intensive nature of dropping out all those little balls and keeping track of 11 minutes for each cookie sheet, and oh, who really needs the added temptation of cookies sitting around? At least with a cake, you polish it off and its done.

Anyways, my sister Sara has been staying with us for awhile and she IS a cookie baker.  She has been baking lots of cookies for her husband, Jeff, who is stationed in Iraq right now.  She cooks from her brain, no recipes involved, so she’s always mixing up something yummy…

Today I decided I would bake cookies for Jeff as well, since his birthday is this week (Happy Birthday bro!).  Ava helped me in the endeavor and as she is blending the chocolate chips into the dough with a wooden spoon, she looks up with a big grin as if she had thought of the best joke in the world and says, “Is your name Sara, Mommy?”. The she gives a great snicker (yes, snicker) and continues stirring.

Guess my daughter has inherited her father’s sarcasm, …and learned how to use it.

Come ‘er and give me a kiss.

At first, she wasn’t too sure.  She tried just ignoring the giant lion that was impinging on her space.

Then, she decided he might be ok, and looked kind of soft and furry.

His giant red nose might even be great for a little peck…

And then, she just went for it…no holding back. “Come ‘er you big giant lion…”

Back from DisneyWorld…

Well, if you were wondering about our little break from the blog world, it’s because we were visiting the alternative reality known as DisneyWorld.  We spent five days with Helen and Michael and the kids.  Fun, fun, fun.  I don’t think its a trip I would really recommend with kids who still like to nap and who can’t carry their own bags…that being said, we had a lot of fun and managed to keep everyone from complete melt down. (that includes us more than the kids)

The highlights for Ava were meeting the characters and riding on the kiddie rides.  The animal kingdom was a HUGE hit and lots of fun for us too.  So was the hotel pool…

Ten months and counting.

Because my little sister Ginny turned the big 29 this month (for the first time, that is) we had a fun little party celebrating and Livi got to try out some birthday cake.  Ahhhh, to taste yellow cake for the first time.

CERN nerd video…

Gotta love this.  If you haven’t heard of CERN, read up before Sept 10th when the first particles will make a run around the track.  The first collision experiments will take place on October 21…
