"Ginger house" time.

When I told Ava we could make a gingerbread house, she was so excited…the next morning she popped out of bed at 6 am and the first thing out of her mouth was, “Are we going to make a ginger house today, Mommy?”

Apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

And no, I do not take the computer into the restroom with me. On side note, even sans computer, potty training is going very well. We finally just told Ava that after a certain date there would be no more diapers. We talked about it for a few days leading up to the big day. And then, that day we packed them away (except for a few pull ups for night time). She has done GREAT (much to my relief, I really wasn’t sure if this approach would work or not). After one week, she is having very few accidents and is really doing great at announcing when she has to go.

Dad's wood ceiling.

Some of you have heard me talk about my Dad’s wood ceiling. He designed this pattern himself, hand cut the wood and stained it using a variety of natural stains. The final product is beautiful! The tone of the wood is so great in the room, pictures really do not capture it at all!

How cute are these girls?

When I was pregnant with Olivia, I really kind of wanted a boy. I thought that would be nice to have one of each. But, now having little Miss Liv around, and seeing Ava with her…no boy would do in her place. I love saying, “my girls” or “the girls“. It just feels complete.

Speaking of hair.

Yep, if you were wondering where I was in the pictures below…that is me with the brown hair. I noticed my roots getting darker and darker since I was pregnant with Ava. After having Olivia they were even worse…and I decided I didn’t really want to be a bleached blonde. So, I asked the hairdresser to match the roots and low-and-behold this is what we got. I HATED it for the first week, but I am finally getting used to it and while I prefer the blonde (sniff, sniff)…I’ll try to work with what Mother Nature (and the hairdresser/Matrix hair color) has thrown my way. :-)

Sara gets married.

Little Miss Sara, baby sister of our family, got married this weekend. It was a crazy weekend…Mom and I were finishing up guest favors TWO HOURS before the ceremony when we finally gave up (thus the not so pretty hair in the pictures). :-) Mom was the wedding MASTER. She did both the wedding cake and the grooms cake along with most everything else. It was a great day, fun for everyone. The best part is that Sara and Jeff seem very happy and suited for each other. They are both Black Hawk helicopter pilots in the Army and stationed at Fort Hood. We are all super proud of them and their accomplishments, as well as thrilled for them as they start this new adventure. Ava was the flower girl and she did really well. She made it down the aisle with me, and then sat with Grandma & Grandpa, where she promptly fell asleep! Couldn’t have timed it better.

Dad does bathtime.

We are trying to get the girls on the same evening schedule…bath, story, bed by 8 o’clock. So far, we are getting closer. Of course, Olivia gets up three hours later for a snack, but at least we are getting closer to having a few hours to talk/watch TV/catch up on email.
