Fun playing with Dad.

New photos.

Life is good here at the Sasser household. Ava is still trying to get the hang of crawling…we are not quite there yet. She can get up on her knees and get one knee and hand forward, but then she kind of drops down and DRAGS herself forward. No question though, she moves to wherever she wants. So far, she has gotten into the laundry and also the dog’s water bowl. Her bottom two teeth have made a complete appearance and are just cute as can be when she grins outright. Her newest thing is growling… I guess she spends a little too much time with the dogs. She sounds like a demon-possessed child (or an 80 year old chain smoker)… I will try to get it on video for a good laugh. :-)

Happy birthday baby!

Someone in our house turned 31 today and I wanted to say Happy Birthday Baby! There are alot of things that I love about my husband, but here are just a few…he is a hard worker (from his first job at Albertson’s at 15, to his job now where he commutes an hour each way so that I don’t have to, he always works hard AND does a good job)…he is one of the smartest people I know (and smart in many areas, not just a one-specialty kind of intelligence)…he is compassionate…he is funny (goofy could be inserted here, but some of my best laughs in life have been late at night laying next to this guy, what could be better?)…he is hot (love him on the weekend with a little scruff and a baseball cap)…he is artistic and creative…he is passionate (don’t try to argue politics with this guy)…he is a strong man in a quiet, non-demonstrative way…he is a wonderful father (I have fallen in love with him all over again watching him raise our daughter)…he has been my compass in this world for almost a decade now… I love you baby! Happy Birthday.

Let the baby-proofing begin.

Ava is crawling…well sort-of. She gets up on her knees and can make a few crawling moves, then invariably flops down. She gets pretty frustrated, but it is fun to watch. She is only a short time away from realizing the mobility power that she has! We are realizing that we need to start baby-proofing the house to get ready for a mobile baby.

Two teeth.

Two new teeth. They have been awhile in the making, but I haven’t been able to get a good photo of them until now. I think the top front two may be next. I had a fun weekend hanging out with my girl and her sweet Dad! Tomorrow, it’s back to work for both of us. We intended to do lots of chores this weekend, like cleaning out the basement…it just didn’t happen. Since the sun decided to make an appearance, we took advantage of that and took several walks to the park with the dogs. I got some cool photography books at the library. Plus, I’m still reading the “National Geographic field guide for photographers” that a friend gave me for Christmas. And if we are talking about unfinished reading… I also have “Cursious Incident of the Dog in the Night”, “The Universe in a Single Atom”, and “Freakonomics” by my bedside. All are good and deserve to be finished. Where does the time go? Other accomplishments this weekend, besides the aforementioned chores…finished my first few digital scrapbooking layouts (Ok, only two, but that’s a start)… Drank coffee and read the paper(Ok, part of it)…took a nap with Ava…went to lab only briefly on Saturday. Great weekend!

Half-birthday…time is flying…

Ava is 6 months old today. I took these this morning while she was playing. She is getting so big. She loves to say, “b-b-b” now and is so close to crawling. Look at the comparison to her at about 1 week…

Misc. Christmas photos.

Christmas was great. We celebrated in Texas with my family. Ava went on her first flight (see below) and was a trooper. She also got to eat sweet potato casserole with her fingers, meet her great-grandma, play with the cows and ducks on the farm, meet her Aunt Sara, see my parents new house that they are building, and become good friends with a singing toy frog. If that isn’t a good Christmas, I don’t know what is.

Four generations.

While visiting Texas over Christmas, Ava got to meet her last Great-Grandmother. Mimi, is my grandma. She just celebrated her 90th birthday! We were so happy to get to see her and celebrate the holidays with her. She loved Ava and kept saying, “that baby needs to be rocked…”. Finally, we found a rocking chair and they had a nice chat together while rocking. Christmas bliss!

Country girl.

The cows were a great source of entertaiment for Ava (and us). Mom and Dad have a new little calf that was a surprise…too cute. The cows are all pretty tame and come running when you have cubes to feed them.

Meet Aunt Sara…

Ava was a little slow to warm up to meeting her Aunt Sara…tears were rampant. But, after a little nap and some dinner, she was on board. Sara and Ava had a great time playing and getting to know each other. Sara’s dogs (Pilot and Babe) came down also and were really fun. We all had a great time.
